“Woman versus the Indian”
Answering a white suffragist's paper of this title, Cooper refuses the premise that women's cause competes with despised races: she recounts the Jim Crow car and the waiting-room signs from her own travels, and insists that woman's cause is won only when it is the cause of every wronged person — “not the white woman nor the black woman nor the red woman.”
